Trade body UK Screen Association has appointed Sarah Mackey as chief executive. Mackey, who has been acting chief executive since August last year, replaces Gaynor Davenport. Prior to her UK Screen Associa-
tion role, Mackey was director of strategy at BBC Studios and Post Production. She said: “Our mem-
bership comprises a wealth of creativity and expertise, which is crucial to the economic success of the wider industry. I’m very proud to represent them all.” Chairman Steve Norris added: “In making this appointment, the entire board was genuinely delighted to be able to secure someone of Sarah’s experience and ability.”

Paul Willey to the role of busi- ness development and co-pro- duction manager. Founder and chief executive

PAUL AUSTIN THE STUDIOS Former Clear Cut Pictures managing director Paul Austin is joining The
Studios at MediaCityUK. Austin will take on the role of head of post-production. As well as man- aging the Salford facility’s post-
production services, he will create cloud-based services for UK and overseas customers. Starting in September, Austin
will work with commercial direc- tor and acting chief operating officer Ian Munford, head of operations John O’Shaughnessy and chief technology officer Paul Clennell. Munford said: “Paul comes with a fantastic track record of managing Clear Cut Pictures.”
MIKE WHITTAKER SIS
SIS has appointed Mike Whittaker to the role of chief technology officer. Whit-
taker has been given the task of setting and delivering the future technology strategy for the busi- ness. He will work with SIS chief operating officer Gary Smith. Whittaker joins SIS from

Services), where he was vice- president of global operations and in charge of the transmission and media operations, solutions and systems integration for out- sourced broadcast services.
DUNCAN RUSSELL SMOKE & MIRRORS
Duncan Russell has joined Smoke & Mirrors. The former Prime Focus colour-
ist’s arrival coincides with the opening of a new Da Vinci Resolve-based hero suite at the Beak Street facility. Russell’s credits include 9/11
State Of Emergency and Atlas 4D, as well as commercials for H&M and Stella Artois, and promos for Kanye West and Coldplay. “It’s exciting to be expanding
the capabilities of our grading department with the second suite,” said Smoke & Mirrors managing director Gary Szabo, who described Russell as “an immense and passionate talent”.
ALLAN JOHNSTON JUNGLE Jungle has recruited one of the creators of Mr Tumble to lead the post group’s push
into children’s content for TV, online and apps. Allan Johnston, the former series producer of CBeebies’ Something Special, has joined Jungle as director of children’s content. He took the role after consulting with the post firm’s production company, Bearkatt Productions, on a pre-school show that is still in development.

Procam Television has made two new appointments, with Nick Badham recruited in a project management role and Katie Steele joining the hire firm as client relations manager. Badham, who has worked as a line producer and technical manager across studio, OB and location programming, will develop the company’s specialist and multicamera operations. Steele has worked in SIS
LIVE’s OB division since 2004. For the past three years, she has been part of its commercial department, managing relation- ships and technical budgets for key broadcast and produc- tion accounts.

Streamworks International has poached two senior executives from Associated Press as part of the streaming technology firm’s expansion plans. Former AP EMEA director of sales Markus Ickstadt has joined as director of news, while former head of inter- national operations, global media services, Tim Santhouse has been appointed director of operations. Streamworks claims its propri- etary software takes up approxi- mately 30% less bandwidth than that of its competitors. Its clients include APTN
