KDDI Corporation has purchased a Snell Alchemist Ph.C-HD motion-compen- sated standards converter to help with the challenge of dealing with different formats from around the world. “High- profile broadcast events from around the world deserve the best possible conver- sion techniques, and the Alchemist Ph.C-HD will bring just that to KDDI,” said senior vice-president at Snell Asia David Tasker.


● BOTSWANA BTV UPGRADES NEWS SYSTEM


Botswana TV (BTV) has improved its Quantel Enterprise sQ news production system. The upgrade provides BTV with Quantel V5 software that makes PCs compliant with the Windows 7 operating system and new editing, workflow and management facilities. Also included in the deal are upgrades of BTV’s craft edit- ing workstations to Quantel Qube.


VISUAL UNITY KIT POWERS TV NOVA ● CZECH REPULIC


Broadcaster TV Nova is using technology supplied by broadcast and multiscreen systems integrator Visual Unity to power its live online streaming and video-on- demand service Voyo. Visual Unity’s integrated content management and delivery platform vuMedia provides delivery and monetisation of live content and access to TV Nova’s archive of more than 50,000 video assets.


● UAE ADBL WINS UAE ANTENNA CONTRACT


Gloucestershire-based Alan Dick Broad- cast has been awarded a contract to upgrade an antenna at UAQ Broadcast- ing Network in the UAE. ADBL techni- cians will upgrade the feed system and dipole panels on the original Alan Dick antenna with new high-power compo- nents to create a double dipole panel with H90 horizontal/V90 vertical polari- sation and an omni-directional broad- band pattern.
