in the nation Ballet Academy of Texas dancers were awarded several top honors at the American Ballet Competitionpresented by The Institute for Dance Education Arts, Inc. in June 2012. Their ensemble entry, selections from La Ventana Pas de Trois, was awarded 1st place in the Ensemble category. Nathan Vendt, age 18, was awarded the Outstanding Male award. Courtlyn Hansonand Breanne Granlund both won 2nd place in their divisions in the Classical category. All three dancers are current or previous Dance Council of North Texas Scholarship winners and dancers with the Ballet Ensemble of Texas.
Gillian Fitz, age 14, was awarded 1st Place in her division in the Classical category of the American Ballet Competition. Gillian is a student at Almayeva School of Classical Ballet.
The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars recently named Taylor Rodman, a recent graduate of Booker T. Washington HSPVA, a 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Taylor was awarded the U.S. Presidential Scholars medallion in a White House-sponsored ceremony and performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on June 18, 2012.

The Texas Performing Arts Society, a new performing arts presenter serving Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin-San Antonio, has slated two dance performances in Dallas-Fort Worth in January and February 2013.

Jessica Zeller joins the faculty at Texas Christian University School for Classical & Contemporary Dance this fall 2012. Ms. Zeller holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and most recently taught at OSU and Ballet Met Columbus. Her research is focused on ballet pedagogy, and she will teach studio classes as well as courses in theory and pedagogy.
A dance alumni reunion for Texas Christian University School for Classical & Contemporary Dance is planned for September 28-29, 2012.
