Age, which was created in 1957 by Dr Ing Fiorito, an aeromodeller from Turin. Cygan was quite a celebrity in the 1950s

and ‘60s and in 1958 he visited London’s Olympia, where he demonstrated how he could walk, turn, lift and accept spoken commands as well to respond to signals and light rays. Also featured are a collection of convex and concave mirrors,

from Victorian fairground distortion examples to a huge Second World War concave glass reflector from a Royal Navy battleship, alongside an oversized pair of Balmoral boots, commissioned by Rhodes Rawling of Halifax around 1880 to showcase their

boot-making skills at exhibitions. Very appealing are a pair of

diminutive, 9 x 6in (23 x 15cm), late

Victorian trade signs, probably made for a pet shop or street trader, one showing English lop-eared rabbits and the other a terrier with the line Dogs cropped in

artistic style. Although the pieces are for sale, prices

are as yet unconfirmed, so contact Nathaniel directly. www.mgoldstein.co.uk
