major thoroughfares of the city, West Street and Main Street. This means that all my major des- tinations for shopping and recreation are no more than a 20 minute ride by wheelchair. I can also use Keene’s pub- lic transportation, The City Express, to give my wheelchair a break or during inclement weath- er, which seems to be every other day lately. The best part of Harper


Acres, though, is that it isn’t just a bunch of apartment buildings; it is a pretty tight-knit com- munity. The people who live here are a smatter- ing of older and younger, and disabled and able- bodied people who look out, and care, for each other. I am fortunate to have been welcomed here. I am also continuing


to learn to cook my own meals. To start out this endeavor, I had a Keene State Col lege student named Meghan come out to help me set up my kitchen with adap-


tive cookware. Then we cooked a couple meals together. That was ex- tremely fun and re- warding. Unfortunately, Meghan graduated this past May, and so I have to press on on my own until this fall, when I will be having another KSC student coming in to give me more lessons. Well, that’s it for now.


I enjoyed sharing some aspects of my life direct- ly with you. Be sure to read again in two weeks when, no doubt, dad will be back (along with Diablo, of course) to take you on another journey Rambling Through His- tory!
