MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURES HAVE TAKEN OVER


DOWNTOWN ROCHESTER


Twelve creatures have recently taken over down- town Rochester. They are part of the My-


thology of Rochester. The fourth innovative project developed by Art Esprit since 2009, is a five- month, city-wide display of the creative works of local artists and writers including aspiring artists from Rochester Middle School and Spaulding High School. Writers and artists got


together and created their own mythological crea- ture. There were many entries based on histori- cal people, natural land formations and area land- marks of Rochester. Each group was selected by a jury to fill the 10 slots. Two student groups - one from Spaulding High School and one from Rochester Middle School were also selected to create their myths of Rochester. Wright Museum Program on Lucknow Estate’s Multi-


On Tuesday, June 19, at


7pm, Michael Desplaines, Executive Director of Cas- tle in the Clouds, will dis- cuss the recent extensive restoration of the Lucknow Estate at The Wright Mu- seum in Wolfeboro. Desplaines will illustrate


Artist Liz Helfer beside her creation “The Littlest Giwakwa” on Main Street in Rochester. “Giwakwa” is one of twelve mythological creatures that will be visiting the City of Rochester until November. Visitors are encouraged to come take the walking tour and learn all about the Mythology of Rochester.
