PASSION BUILDS A LONG TERM BUSINESS BASE

onteyn is the largest spa specialist in Europe, possibly the world.

Dolf Nieland started selling Fonteyn spas 14 years ago and the business has developed to such a level that he is now the largest distributor of them worldwide. He owns a production line in the factory in China where 50% of the spas come from. The other 50% are from the United States. Dolf has total control over the manufacturing process and a hand in their design and innovation. He also owns two of the moulds for the spas he produces.


Significantly for the UK hot tub market, he is the sole distributor for Europe of Passion and Fonteyn spas. He travelled to the United States three times and China 10 times last year to check that his high standards are maintained. He is fully in control of the way the spas are made and the materials used. When the product arrives in the Netherlands, his team do further


extensive tests to check the product, material and workings which ensures he can check quality. If one is inferior he knows immediately and can quickly identify who worked on it. This benefits in three ways, firstly fewer problems with delivered products being faulty and needing service onsite. Secondly, total confidence in the product quality. Thirdly and most importantly, it ensures a happy dealer with a satisfied customer. Fonteyn and Passion Spas have earned a reputation for superior customer care and total flexibility, even offering to tailor make spas if there are special requirements. They have a price range for everyone but it is very clear they do not sell more spas because they are the most competitively priced but because of the service and the high quality of the spas. The huge stock means they can fulfill dealer orders within two weeks. He also holds a huge stock of over 35,000 spare parts for hot tubs and these can be delivered in 24 hours. Dolf sells a staggering 1,000 spas a year alone from his showroom and 2,000 all over Europe through his dealer network. Each new model is tested in the showroom to see customer reaction and if there is a market for it. This means only the best selling spas are offered to dealers, a particularly useful method of ensuring sales.
