PUMPING INTO A NEW MARKET

DAB Pumps has been manufacturing high quality, Italian-made pumps for 37 years. The UK’s swimming pool market and SPATA membership are now two key developments for the business

AB Pumps took some time to discover the specialist swimming pool market. Founded in Veneto, Italy, in 1975, DAB pumps, now part of the DWT group, is known and respected globally as one of the leading engineering companies designing and producing pumps, motors and electronics for all aspects of water management.

Within the last two years, DAB Pumps have launched themselves successfully into the UK swimming pool market with their pool pumps the Euroswim and Eurocover. Significantly, the business has chosen to ‘get actively involved’ in the industry as new members of SPATA, the pool trade association and exhibitors at SPATEX in both 2011 and 2012.

Carly Eden from DAB makes the point: “We are sort of late comers to the specialist swimming

pool trade but it is important to us that we are members of an association which is so closely linked with maintaining high industry standards within this sector.”

“DAB Pumps has been manufacturing durable, high quality, Italian-made pumps for the last 37 years. We were proud to introduce our new product range which included the much-in-demand Euroswim and Eurocover for swimming pools.”

The former, a pump produced primarily for domestic use is admired for its high efficiency, low level noise and impressive reliability. The latter, an entirely automatic submersible pump, is designed to remove rainwater that collects on top of swimming pool covers. Suitable for use on top of pool covers, it prevents too much water accumulating which can be a safety hazard.

The Euroswim pump is indeed sought after as a self priming centrifugal pump with a large pre-filter basket meaning it needs emptying less often. It also has a virtually silent running motor. It also has a completely watertight motor, is highly reliable and is designed for the circulation and filtration of water in domestic and residential swimming pools. It is also used for special applications such as the handling of aggressive liquids in fish farms, farming and industry.

DAB Pumps has set up distribution of its dual- branded version of the Euroswim pump through Certikin International.

The association with Certikin and the dual branded products has, the company says, been very successful. On the pumps the logo reads ‘Certikin... powered by DAB’.

“Our products are available in a wide range of markets all around the world so our search for new markets and opportunities is fairly relentless. We researched the pool market carefully and found an industry which from our feedback showed a lot of growth potential. It’s been exciting for us to get involved in this way.”

These two pumps provide efficient, innovative solutions to the market’s needs thanks to their specific properties that make them flexible, simple and practical to use. Their features are fundamental for reaching a competitive advantage. DAB’s entry in the swimming pool sector and the recent broadening of its selection of pump models, are a sign of our strategic growth in this growing market.

“With these two additions, we have added a new phase to the group’s overall goal of becoming water specialists.”

DAB Pumps produce more than 2 million motor-driven water pumps each year enabling the company to offer customers a complete line of products that meet even the most specific requirements, whilst ensuring the highest degree of reliability.

DAB Pumps are based in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire where it manages all business activities for the UK and Irish markets. spn
