Some of the athletes who carry Kenya’s hopes include Vivian Cheruiyot, who is expected to win two Gold medals in the 5000m and 10,000m events; David Rudisha, the current world record holder in the 800m event; Asbel Kiprop, the 1500m World and Olympic Champion, among others.
Kenya’s legendary runner, Kipchoge Keino, who is the head of the Kenya National Olympic Committee (KNOC) and also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has al- ready expressed his optimism that this year is likely to become the most successful Olympic year for Kenya’s athletes. It is just a matter of time before we can see what happens there.
