With all the hype and accolades poured on Ghana and Ivory Coast, and their Europe-based stars, no one had imagined Zambia would come through the way they did, winning it all at the 28th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Gabon / Equatorial Guinea. Zambia played as a team with a purpose. Led by the only sur- viving member of the 1993 squad that perished off the coast of Gabon, Kalusha Bwalya, and an inspiring coach, Frenchman Herve Renard, the team was truly out to prove its detractors wrong for doubting
