Hopefully, you have a good Internet Security or Anti Virus program installed on your computer. Sometimes, however, viruses go undetected even with the best protection. So here are the signs that you may have a problem. Some are obvious, some are not!
the Fake Anti virus Message On starting the computer you see a message saying
you have a virus. When you click on the link, a program is asking you for money to fix the problem.
Your Antivirus / internet Security package will not Open This is quite common. Many viruses disable your real Anti Virus program leaving you exposed to other threats.
Your Computer Slows Down Some viruses slow your computer down. Sometimes,
they can grind to a halt. If the change is sudden, then open your Anti Virus program and run a full scan.
e have had many calls recently saying that “Microsoft” has called
icons Appear or Disappear from the Desktop Have you lost some icons on the desktop? Some
viruses delete them. Or perhaps you have a new icon on desktop and have no idea where it came from.
Your internet browser Crashes or Your Home page has Changed If you are having problems getting on the Internet, it could just be a network problem. However, some viruses hijack your Internet browser or can change your home page.
the Computer takes a long time to Start Up
If your computer takes an age to start up, it may be a virus or malicious software is running on start up too!
new toolbars Appear on Your internet browser When you open your Internet Browser, you have toolbars at the top of the page. If you see a new toolbar, it could be a problem.
These are just some of the signs. Because there
are so many different viruses, there is no “catch all” definition. As always, make sure you have a good Internet Security Program installed and run scans frequently.
