MTLA Offers Members a

More Powerful Website by David B. Walls, CAE, CMP

I can hardly believe that summer is

over. Children are back in school. Once again, we are at the beginning of a busy seminar and event season. Before you know it, January and the 2008 legislative session will be upon us. It is time to get back to work. As you fill your calendars with deposi-

tions, trial preparations and trials, you may want to visit an old friend who has a brand new look and powerful tools that can ease your work load. In July, with the help of Louise A. Lock, the Technology Committee and MTLA staff, MTLA launched an updated website. This was a huge undertaking. Literally, hundreds of pages of the old site were reviewed, revised and re-categorized. Your sugges- tions from the 2007 MTLA Membership Survey were implemented and some tools you asked for were added. The address is the same, but the look

has changed. Go towww.mdtriallawyers. com and you will be taken to the “home”

page. This page welcomes members and non-members with our mission predominately displayed as a constant reminder of why we have chosen to keep families safe.

Your Bread and Butter Many members will spend most of

their time in “My MTLA”, “Program/ Events” and “Sponsors” areas of the website. FIRST, all members will want to login

to the website. The Member Login area is on the left side of the webpage. Most areas of the website are accessible with- out logging in. If you attempt to access member-only information, you can login at that time. REMEMBER, the MTLA office does

not know your username or password. TrialSmith, the company hosting our website, has this information. The email address that you have given to the MTLA

office is your username. Passwords are randomly generated. You may choose to keep this password or you have an op- tion to change it once you have logged in. Don’t remember your password? Simply click on the “I forgot my Username or Password,” and this information will be sent to you within minutes. If you use numerous email accounts, you will have to select one as your primary login address. MTLA uses the one they have on file, as your primary address. If you have changed this address, PLEASE let the MTLA staff know. A simple click or two on our side will save you time on yours. Once you have logged in, you have access to member-only content.

My MTLA Based on the responses we received

from last year’s membership survey, it was clear that member resources should be located in one area. If members are going to use the website effectively, they wanted their “stuff” in one area. The My MTLA section is just that.
