We can never know about the days to come, but we think about them anyway And I wonder if I’m really with you now, or just chasing after some finer day.

Anticipation, anticipation, is making me late, is keeping me waiting.

“Carly Simon” If you read my article in the last issue

and prepared your home and office, then you answered my question of “Are you prepared?” This month, my question is simple, are you ready for Spring? Sure, it’s technically Winter, but as I sit in the of- fice and watch the snow fall, I tell myself, it’s coming. I cleaned the garage this weekend and moved my golf clubs around about eight times, and again, I tell my-

self, it’s coming. If you haven’t noticed on your commute home each day, the days are getting slightly longer, and again, I tell myself it’s coming. As many of you know, I am an avid

gardener and an average golfer, so late Winter and the anticipation of Spring don’t mix. I made it through the holi- days and truly appreciate watching the athletes at the Winter Olympics. How- ever, to me, playing eighteen holes of golf is a lot more fun than shoveling eighteen inches of snow. Spring, Summer, Fall and early Winter offer many opportunities to get out, meet with friends and have fun. However, the dead of Winter, the really cold days and nights, keeps friends and neighbors in hibernation. So as we turn the corner,

you can see slight signs of change that welcome a new season. Perhaps you have noticed the daffodils and tulips poking their heads out of the ground cover along many buildings. If not, take a look around the courthouse next time you are there. The coming of Spring always brings an- ticipation of lofty goals to complete before Summer vacation: files to finish, appoint- ments to make and cases to win. Then there is the painting, planting and golf- ing.

While you make your list, remember to include MTLA in your upcoming plans. On page 51, you will find an up- dated Calendar of Events. April will be showered with opportunities to partici- pate in the Medical Negligence Seminar (our Spring Event), the Case Evaluation Clinic, Annual Membership Meeting and Dinner (with Legislative Update and Elec- tion of the new MTLA Officers and Board), and a Family Law TeleSeminar. May will be blooming with a Brown Bag Luncheon on How to Start a Law Practice and the President’s Dinner and Silent Auction. Are you ready to participate in it all?

You can be. Each of these events marks a step closer to the end of the fiscal year and planning for the year to come. The staff and I are already beginning our preparations for a new budget, the golf tournament (July ’06), the CLE calendar for next year and another Membership Directory. Take a little time out of your hiberna- tion to visit the web site and plan for your Spring activities. You may even want to start thinking of those committees in which you want to participate. Soon, the Chairs will be asking for your participa- tion and support. Before you know it, Spring will be here, bringing along with it the flowers, birds, warm weekends and lush green fairways. Ah, I can’t wait.
