405-00579-05 Walker v. University Gary A. Stein System of Maryland,

(301) 838-0199

Morgan State University, Personal Injury et al.

Judge/ Jurisdiction

Judges Stuart & Pierson/

Baltimore City Issues

In a case where an invitee was injured by slip- ping and falling on ice in a Morgan State University parking lot, did the trial court err in determining, as a matter of law, that it was a reasonable course of action for the appellant to abandon her mission after traveling a great dis- tance 8 days after a snowfall to assist her daughter, who was snowbound at the Univer- sity rather than traverse a snowy parking lot when there allegedly was no safer route? The case also raises the issue of whether the trial court erred in granting summary judgment to a snow removal contractor given that it had been ex- cluded from the University by University personnel for failing in its duty to clear campus parking lots of snow and ice.
