Government Careers & Recruitment
Why Join the Air Force? T
he Air Force presents more opportuni- ties for a young person than they can find almost anywhere else. Where else
can you learn how to fly a fighter jet, see the world, and even get money to go to college? High school graduates can qualify for the Air Force’s enlisted programs, while officers have a wide variety of technical, scientific, or other specialty career paths available to them. If you are a healthcare professional, the Air Force also has a lot to offer, with challenging careers for physicians, nurses and other professionals. The statistics speak for themselves. Despite
the war, or perhaps because of it, enlistments are up and the Air Force continues to meet its recruitment goals every year, and over half of first-time Air Force recruits choose to re-enlist. Clearly, the Air Force has something good to offer, and more people are seeking out these special challenges. As a way to pay for college, the Air Force
presents some excellent opportunities. Like the other branches of service, the Air Force has se- veral special programs to pay for your college tuition, either before, during, or after your tour of service has been completed. And while in the Air Force, you will find a wealth of speci- alty training programs which many find to be very useful in the private workforce. You may be able to take special technical or mechanical training while in the Air Force, which can lead to high-paying vocational occupations after your service has been completed. The Community College of the Air Force is
the nation’s largest community college system. Air Force personnel can earn an Associates De- gree in one of five career areas, which can not only enhance your position within the service, but can also prepare you for an outside career. Additionally, the prestigious Air Force Aca- demy offers a rigorous academic program for high school graduates. Many graduates of the Academy have gone on to be leaders in both government and the private sector. The United States Air Force is the world’s
leading air and space power, and the most tech- nologically sophisticated branch of the milita- ry. By becoming a part of this force, you can make a difference in your own life, and make a difference to the world. Source:
