barbarajwood@juno.com Barbara Wood developed her psychic abilities later in life. She said,
“I wasn’t born with it, as far as I know.” Instead, a series of life-changing events, including a divorce from her husband of 30 years, brought her “gift” forward.
During that time, she went through a period of self-
discovery and prayed to God -- looking for answers and seeking to find herself again.
That journey brought new people into her life, spiritual people who
were open to psychic experiences. Wood began to see things, and later to hear things that she would describe as “creepy”, although she said
she was never frightened. She explains it happening as in the movie The Sixth Sense. “It was like a window opened and these spirits would acknowledge me. But I learned that I just had to tell them they were dead and to go to the light. They would move on,” says Wood.
At first she admits that she didn’t want people to know what she
was capable of. She knew how people who claimed to be psychic were typically regarded, and she didn’t want to be placed in that category. However, Wood said that it came “so fiercely” and she was right so much of the time, she couldn’t ignore it.
Today, Wood focuses on clairvoyance and “mediumship”, which is speaking with the dead. “I can speak with a loved one who’s passed,” says Wood. But it comes with a warning: You may not always get the information you want. She has the ability to bring spirits forward, but cautions that they don’t always want to come. “You may get somebody else, some are anxious to communicate with you, some aren’t,” she adds. While she can usually make contact, she says that if the person has fear, that fear can block the energy. Wood says that if she cannot make contact, she will be honest and tell them the person is not available.
Part of her job is sensing when people are going to die, when a spouse
is cheating, or when a marriage is over. “I don’t usually tell people that someone is going to die, my timing could be off.
But I will tell them that it might be time to go in for some testing,” says
Wood. “I will tell my client is someone is cheating, if a job is draining them, or if their marriage isn’t working.”
She also provides tarot card readings, which she says helps her to pick up feelings and provides insight. Her readings can offer insight for people, but she explains that it’s also a way to help change a pattern of thinking, break down barriers, let go of the “what-if’s”, and to help stop focusing on the outcome. During the tarot card reading, the client shuffles the cards, touching as many as possible, and then Wood lays them out to tell a story.
When I met Barbara, I was intrigued. I asked for a tarot reading and
didn’t supply any information about myself. I didn’t want her to have anything to build on with my reading. And I’ll admit -- I was blown away! My reading encompassed events in my life that occurred in increments of one to two months, three to four months, and five to six months ago my past, and then an overall summary. She was dead-on. Everything she said fit perfectly into what is currently happening in my life, and yes, she did provide answers. I definitely believe that Barbara has the gift, and would highly recommend her.
Wood counsels that people make decisions based on what they know and their past experiences. Psychic readings can help to change the way we think about certain things. She tells her clients not to come that often because she feels people can get addicted and use psychics as a crutch rather than thinking for themselves. Her clients visit about once every six months, sometimes more often if they are in a “tight spot” which added to her credibility. She never tried to “sell” me anything further, which I found refreshing.
Barbara is a psychic, motivational speaker, reiki master, tarot reader and channeler. Readings are by appointment.

Palm & Card Reading, 1872 Airport Road South, Naples / 239-775-7080 My “research” for this psychic review feature began with a casual
visit to Palm & Card Reading across from the Collier County Courthouse. We’ve all driven past the building with the blinking sign and glowing neon palm, and I can’t be the only one who’s always been just a little curious. August 13, 2010 seemed like an especially good day to make my inaugural visit because it was also my five year wedding anniversary. In addition to those positive vibes, I was wondering if she would pick up on some other issues that were going on in my life.
At first, I didn’t think that anyone was there. I hadn’t made an
appointment, and nobody answered as I knocked on the door of what looked more like someone’s home than the gateway to the netherworld. Therefore, I almost jumped out of my skin when someone unexpectedly knocked on my car window. “Come in,” said an attractive woman in her late twenties, “I can see you now.” After negotiating the price of a tarot reading (which was explained as being more in depth than a palm reading), the psychic, anonymous in this article, asked me to think of three questions that I would like answered. Upon doing so, she launched into the reading. At first, her comments were vague generalizations, but they became progressively more specific. Eager to gain insight, I’ll admit that I clarified a few of her statements, “Oh, you must be seeing...”, but as the hour went by, I became more impressed. The psychic boldly stated as fact several of my unspoken feelings relating to my business and relationships.
Overall, my experience at Palm & Card Reading was positive, and I
found the reading to be uncannily on point. It’s hard to judge whether it was 100% information channeled from another realm, or simply generated by a perceptive individual picking up on clues and deducing the rest. It was more like a chat with a close girlfriend rather than the more intimidating experience that I had anticipated. Wearing street clothes and smoking cigarettes throughout, she was engaging, friendly, and easy to confide in. My plan to keep my identity undercover soon went out the window, and I found myself giving her a copy of the magazine and showing her my editor picture as I was leaving. Oops!
The psychic had mentioned that she was concerned about some
negativity that she was sensing in my life, but reassured me that for an additional $300, all that could be easily exorcised during an intensive seven day plan. I could easily see how someone more insecure with their reality could be susceptible to this up-charge.
If only solving
life’s problems were that simple! In conclusion, I would recommend a visit to Palm & Card reading - the initial reading is affordable and there are definitely some gifts at work at this address. However, I do advise readers not to take their readings too seriously and to proceed further with caution. After all, as the old saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted.
