Outdoor Clubs
Ottawa Orienteering Club (OOC) Orienteering is a high speed navigation sport and the Ottawa Orienteering Club (OOC) provides opportunities for pursuing this activity. They are a group of outdoor sports enthusiasts who organize and take part in orienteering events of various kinds in the National Capital area. Members and newcomers alike are welcomed to their meets. Improve your map and compass skills for your next adventure run, or to simply enjoy a hike or run in our parks and woodlands. The orienteering experience is always unique because of the new locations, different terrain, longer/shorter courses, easier/harder navigational challenges.
The Ottawa Hostel Outdoor Club The Ottawa Hostel Outdoor Club (OHOC) organizes day and weekend outdoor excursions year-round at minimal cost for residents of and visitors to the Ottawa and Gatineau communities, including guests of the Ottawa Hostel. Environmentally-sound recreational activities include hiking, walking, bicycling, canoeing, skiing, snowshoeing, and skating. Club members range in age from post-high-school to retirement age and, like Ottawa itself, are of many nationalities. Day outings are planned for nearly every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. The club offers numerous weekend-long trips to destinations in Ontario, Quebec, and the mountain ranges in New York and New England.
Rideau Trail Association The Rideau Trail Association is a non-profit organization and a founding member of Hike Ontario. Its purpose is to preserve and maintain a hiking trail from Kingston to Ottawa. Each of the three hiking clubs of the RTA - Kingston, Central (Perth), and Ottawa, organize outings in all seasons of the year. They usually take place on the weekend and comprise an activity appropriate for the season, such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter and hiking in the spring, summer, and fall.
The Ottawa Triathlon Club The Ottawa Triathlon Club is a recreational organization dedicated to helping its members make triathlon training a fun part of their healthy lifestyle. The club’s growing range of programs help members prepare for participation in the sport of triathlon and stay in shape and motivated year round.
Ottawa Bicycle Club The Ottawa Bicycle Club is the oldest and one of the largest bicycle clubs in Canada. The OBC offers a range of cycling programs which appeal to a range of cyclists from novice to experienced riders. Events vary from relaxed country tours with picnic lunches to fast-action road racing. The OBC provides a unified voice for cyclists in the national capital region to speak to government bodies, organizations and other groups of interest to cyclists.
The Running Room The Running Room offers an incredible number of services that offer clinics such as Walking, Learn to Run, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Training, Personal Best, and For Women Only Running Clinics. The tremendous success of these clinics is evident from the over 600,000 clinic graduates to date. The various programs meet the needs of those just getting into a fitness routine and to those contemplating a marathon. In addition, there is the Running Room Running Club, which has no membership fee and allows all levels of runners to run in a group setting twice weekly. The Running Room Running Club really adds a social component to running as you get an opportunity to run with a variety of people and receive some great coaching on running techniques and training methods.
