men of excellence Hubert Wiley A proud Detroit native, Hubert Wiley attended Wayne State University and


earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. During his first career, he worked in the counseling field with various non-profits, providing services to delinquent, runaway, abused and neglected youth and their families.


In 1993, Mr. Wiley made a career transition to the financial services indus-


try when he accepted a position with Comerica Bank. Today, he is vice presi- dent and manager of Comerica’s Renaissance Banking Center in the heart of downtown Detroit. He leads a team of bankers that are committed to provid- ing quality financial services to families, small businesses and non-profits.


Away from the office, he remains committed to the community and the mis-


sions of local non-profits that are addressing critical human needs. He serves as the co-chairman of Fellowship Non Profit Housing, which constructed 50 houses on the east side of Detroit and was recently awarded a Neighborhood Stabilization grant to purchase, renovate and sell existing houses in the same targeted area.


Mr. Wiley also is a member of the Salvation Army’s Advisory Committee, which manages the


Metro Detroit Thrift Stores and applies proceeds to the Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center. In addition, he lends his time and talents to the National Kidney Foundation, serving as a member of the Detroit Executive Committee.


He is married to Gloriane Hymon-Wiley and both attend Greater Christ Baptist Church.

✦ Dr. H. James Williams Dr. H. James Williams, PhD, CPA, CMA, JD, LLM, serves as the dean of


the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. He is also a professor of accounting.


He earned a B.S. degree in Accounting at North Carolina Central Univer-


sity, an MBA in Accounting at the University of Wisconsin (Madison), a PhD in Accounting at the University of Georgia (Athens), and JD and LLM (Taxation) degrees, at Georgetown University Law Center. Dean Williams is also a certi- fied public accountant and a certified management accountant with a wealth of practical experiences, having worked in the public accounting profession and in the legal profession as a corporate and tax attorney.


During his career, Mr. Williams has made significant contributions to the


academy, receiving recognition for his outstanding teaching at Georgetown University, and three Teacher of the Year awards at Florida A&M University and Texas Southern University. For his work with students and student organi- zations, Dean Williams has also received numerous recognitions and awards. His research work is widely published in scholarly and practitioner journals, including Accounting and Finance, Technovation, Issues in Accounting Education, Advances in Quantitative Analysis of Finance and Accounting, The Journal Of Accountancy, The Practical Accountant, The Journal of Small Busi- ness Management, and The CPA Journal.


Mr. Williams serves on the following community and corporate boards: the AICPA Minorities Initia-


tives Committee, Baxter Community Center, Fifth Third Bank, the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center Foun- dation, Greater Grand Rapids YMCA, St. Mary’s Hospital and the Washington Campus.


He hails from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is married to Carole Campbell Williams (of Flint). The Williamses have a 19-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son.


✦ Kevin W. Williams Kevin Williams was appointed president and managing director of GM


Canada Limited on March 1, 2010, and has overall responsibility for GM’s operations in Canada.


He was GM vice president and general manager, Service and Parts Op-


erations, since December 1, 2008. He previously served as president and managing director of GM de Mexico since August 1, 2006, after having been assistant managing director and manufacturing manager, GM de Mexico from June 2005, and GM North America vice president of quality between 2003 and 2005.


Prior assignments included positions as global executive director, Supplier


Quality (2001); global executive director, Supplier Quality, Development, and Supplier Diversity for Worldwide Purchasing (2000); and, executive director, Supplier Quality for GM Europe with responsibilities spanning 22 countries and 1,500 employees (1997).


Mr. Williams began his GM career in 1983 as a reliability analyst at Buick City in Flint, Michigan. In 1993, he became a reliability engineer with the former North America Truck Group. In 1995, he


became the assistant production superintendent at the Janesville Assembly Plant in Janesville, Wis- consin and, in 1996, was promoted to area manager of general assembly.


He was born and raised in Lexington Park, Maryland. He received a bachelor’s degree in business


management from Tennessee State University in 1983 and a master’s degree in Business Administra- tion from Central Michigan University in 1989.


Mr. Williams currently serves as a member of the Genesys Health System board of Trustees and


Tennessee State University Foundation board. He is the key GM executive liaison with the university for the GM University Relations Team.


✦ Frank D. Woods Jr. Frank D Woods Jr. serves as an UAW international representative at Region


1A. His responsibilities include contract negotiations, servicing and coordinat- ing community and political activities. The Community Service Council coor- dinates activities with charitable organizations including the March of Dimes, United Way and the Detroit City Chess Club. The Union Label Council educates the community on the economics of supporting American and union made products and services. The Young Workers Council helps prepare and educate young UAW members on leadership and community involvement. Mr. Woods plays an active role in local, state and national politics, coordinating the labor walks and GOTV in the City of Detroit for UAW Region 1A.


He is the president of the Detroit Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU).


His leadership has focused on increasing their role in the community with pro- grams like “Holiday Box of Socks” with the Brightmoor HeadStart program.


Mr. Woods is a lifetime member of the NAACP, Trade Union Leadership


Council (TULC ) and has been honored with many awards including Man of the Year from the Minority Women Network.


He serves on several boards including Eastern Michigan University, Detroit advisory; Black Caucus


Foundation of Michigan, and Wayne County Democratic Black Caucus. Mr. Woods resides in Detroit with his two sons.
