Statistician
for Film Series

he ASA Archive Committee
requests nominations of distin-
guished statistical scientists to be
considered for inclusion in the Films of
Distinguished Statisticians series. The pres-
tigious series is a joint program of Pfizer
Global Research and Development, the
Department of Statistics at the University
of Connecticut-Storrs, and the American
Statistical Association.
Each year, a distinguished statistical
scientist is invited to the University of
Connecticut-Storrs to present a campus-
wide colloquium. Subsequent to the col-
loquium, a conversation is held about
the guest’s life and career. Both the Pfizer
Colloquia and the conversation are filmed
for the archive of the ASA.
The program was established by David
S. Salsburg and Harry O. Posten more than
30 years ago. Posten directed the project
for nearly 25 years before passing the reigns
to Nitis Mukhopadhyay, a professor at the
University of Connecticut-Storrs, in 2003.
