National heads for San Juan
National Airlines, marketing as “Orlando’s Hometown Airline”, has begun flying to San Juan, Puerto Rico and Windsor, Ontario. The new airline will add flights to St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador in 2016. “Orlando is the most visited place in the US and it’s exciting for us to enable passengers in underserved markets, such as San Juan, with a more convenient means to visit its world-famous theme parks, beaches and cruise ports,” said National Airlines president and CEO Edward Davidson. “Our partnership with the Orlando Sanford International Airport allows us to offer exceptional customer-focused service with the added value of relatively shorter lines and smaller crowds. We pride ourselves on being a full-service airline, delivering a world-class travel experience at a competitive price.” According to Orlando Sanford International Airport president and CEO Diane Crews, the airport has long awaited the return of flights to San Juan, remarking: “There is no doubt that these flights will be among
our most popular destinations.” National Airlines has gone into the scheduled passenger business after long experience offering customised cargo and passenger charter solutions for commercial, government and military clients.
For all passenger services, National Airlines operates two Boeing 757- 200 aircraft with 184 seats. National Airlines passengers can also enjoy the convenience of travel packages booked through the airline’s exclusive partner, Tourico Holidays.
Sydney grows stronger ties with America
The partnership between Qantas and American Airlines has been extended to Sydney Airport.
Qantas started a six weekly Sydney- San Francisco service on a 364-seat Boeing 747-400ER aircraft in late 2015, while American Airlines now flies daily between Los Angeles and Sydney on a 310-seat Boeing 777-300ER. Sydney Airport managing director
and CEO Kerrie Mather noted that the US is Sydney’s most popular outbound destination and said she looked forward to welcoming more visitors from the US. “This expanded partnership will increase capacity by
25% or 225,000 seats a year,” she said. Destination NSW (New South Wales) and Tourism Australia supported the additional US capacity and continue to work to grow US visitor numbers to Australia. Minister for trade, tourism and major events Stuart Ayres said that in the year ended September 2015, New South Wales received 341,500 overnight visitors from the US who spent $581 million in NSW. “The New South Wales government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, maintains a strong relationship with Qantas as part of our strategy to increase tourism across the state,
helping to boost the visitor economy,” Ayres added.
The expanded partnership between
Qantas and American Airlines will offer four routes between Sydney and mainland North America, increasing the airlines’ combined mainland US frequencies to 27 a week. The partnership will enable passengers to access more than 150 North American destinations through American Airlines’ domestic network, including more than 50 destinations from Los Angeles. Qantas is also increasing its six weekly Sydney-Dallas service to seven times a week from April 2016.
