In 2003 a company known as Information Prophets Ltd was founded. The aim was to commercialise the energy diagnostics technology that was pioneered by a Manchester University student during his studies, and to empower energy users with ground breaking artificial intelligence software that can be used to turn large amounts of raw data into meaningful information for companies to improve their systems and processes within the built environment.

In 2004 the company was awarded a prestigious DTI SMART award for research and development which enabled an expansion of the company’s energy analysis expertise. The first market exposure for

Information Prophets Ltd came at the NEMEX 2005 exhibition. The company’s Activelog product (the forerunner of digitalenergy), was the first commercially available online building energy logbook and helped secure the company’s first key commercial client when in 2006, a global player in the energy services market who adopted the Activelog Building Logbook Software database for integration with their own Power Management System. In 2008 the company rebranded as i- prophets Energy Services in order to further penetrate the energy market and the digitalenergy Energy Management Software was launched onto the UK market gaining significant early success especially within the public sector. In 2009, digitalenergy was presented with the Low Carbon Building Award for 'Innovation of the Year' at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards. The award ceremony also saw digitalenergy win awards for 'Display Energy Certificate of the Year' and "Energy Performance Certificate of the Year'. digitalenergy Ltd was formed as a

subsidiary of Information Prophets Ltd in 2011 and was selected by super brand Warburtons Ltd to provide an effective solution to drive their aggressive 20% energy consumption target. In 2012 the company was selected by The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to implement its ISO50001 energy management system. The digitalenergy academy was also launched in 2013 to provide a knowledge

transfer program with a focus on energy management systems. The latest version of digitalenergy professional was launched in 2014 at The Energy Event. By the end of 2014 the company had secured a large portfolio of clients including large private corporations, government bodies and universities. The company also became one of the first in the country to provide accredited lead assessors for the governments mandatory Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). In early 2015 the Information Prophets Group was formed, bringing together digitalenergy Ltd, Cloud Energy Software Ltd and i-prophets Compliance Ltd, providing the energy market with a complete energy management framework. digitalenergy professional has recently been compared alongside global energy management software providers in the 2015 Verdantix Green Quadrant® Building Energy Management Software Report was initially positioned as a challenger to previously established providers.
