As the Assistant Director of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK, Mikael is responsible for one of the UK’s largest business networks, connecting hundreds of companies from over 50 different industries; from financial institutions and law firms, to technology companies, communication agencies, retailers and fashion labels. Originally attracted to Middlesex for its modern approach and international reach, Mikael enjoyed the real life situations he was presented with on his course. “I thought Middlesex was a modern
institution and this appealed to me. I liked the fresh approach I got from the University. “The fact that Middlesex was located
in London and had an international mix of students were important factors [in deciding where to study]. I was particularly motivated by the opportunity to study alongside students from India and Asia,
given the success these countries are currently enjoying in the business world.” Since graduating from Middlesex, Mikael
has found that the real life examples he was given during his master’s have been constantly applicable to situations he encounters in his current role. “My MA allowed me to learn how to
create marketing strategies from scratch, and apply accurate marketing mixes, both of which are really important when going into any marketing role. For me it is applicable on a daily basis, consulting hundreds of various companies on brand development. Recognising the crucial role that having
a master’s degree can play in getting a satisfying job, Mikael feels anyone looking to study at Middlesex should prepare themselves to take full advantage of the expertise on offer: “Middlesex provides a lot in return for your investment in a higher education – make the most of it.”
