I agree with (Ed Gowan) 100 percent regarding the concerns relating to “disparity between the best and the rest.” The new equipment, including golf balls, favors the long hitter because of the smash factor, but also, as (Gowan) alluded, the forgiveness factor. There has not been enough media discussion that emphasizes the fact that the new equipment increases the cost of play, the average time of a golf round, but also because of the resulted added length of golf courses, makes a round of golf less enjoyable for the average player. Your article hits the nail on the head in that we need to protect the majority of golfers, which in the long run is better for the overall game. – Ralph Brekan, Tempe
