HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF


The NLL’s relocated Philadelphia Wings franchise that will play at Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut starting Jan. 2 will be named the New England Black Wolves. In an announcement, the team said, “In ancient times, the Mohegan Tribe was part of the Wolf Clan of the Delaware Indian Nation,” that made its way to the Connecticut shoreline.


SILEO WOMAN OF YEAR FINALIST


Former LIU Post attacker Jackie Sileo was named one of nine finalists, out of a field of 446 nominees, for the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year. The award honors on- and off-field achievements. Sileo wrapped up a decorated career in the spring, breaking the all-time NCAA women’s points record previously held by Hall of Famer Jen Adams. Sileo has been active in charity work and carries a 4.0 grade-point average in her graduate studies at LIU Post. The winner was to be announced Oct. 19.

women’s coach Sept. 8. Coyne previously coached at Notre Dame for 15 seasons, leading the Irish to the final four as the 2006 NCAA Division I Coach of the Year. After leaving Notre Dame in 2011, she worked at Duquesne (2012), Washington & Jefferson (2013) and Dartmouth (2014).


GEREMIA JOINS TAYLOR AT LE MOYNE


Erica Geremia, the reigning IWLCA Division III Attacker of the Year at Cortland, has transferred to Le Moyne, following coach Kathy Taylor to the Division II juggernaut.
