TEST & MEASUREMENT SUPPLEMENT FEATURE
PRODUCT RANGE COVERS the whole scope of thermal imaging
FLIR’s thermal imaging cameras are tools of the trade for electrical fault finding. It is common for users to work their way up the FLIR range in line with their growing experience in thermal imaging. Now the company is widening the scope of its product range to give customers even more choice

LIR’s new range of test and measurement tools include a number of features designed to assist industry in electrical fault finding, including integral dual LED work lights to illuminate dimly lit work areas. In addition, they all carry limited lifetime warranties. The new test and measurement products complement the established FLIR brand, Extech, which continues to serve the mass market.

VFD TROUBLESHOOTING Three electrical meters are in the current release phase and the first of the trio is the FLIR DM93. This is a rugged digital multimeter with variable frequency drive (VFD) filtering that allows accurate analysis of non-sinusoidal waveforms and noisy signals found in VFD controlled equipment. A special mode to eliminate ghost readings and automatic data recording to detect intermittent glitches are also standard features.
SIMPLIFIED POWER AND VFD ANALYSIS The FLIR CM83 is an industrial grade power clamp meter with power analysis and VFD filtering for testing 3-phase systems and VFD controlled equipment. Other features include a harmonics mode to find noise from different electrical sources - ‘phase rotation’ to confirm phase orientation of 3-phase systems for easier motor diagnostics and installation, and ‘inrush current’ to detect start-up transients.

ILLUMINATED VOLTAGE DETECTION The FLIR VP52 is a compact, non-contact voltage detector with an LED work light as well as dual LED convenience lights at the probe tip. It is waterproof and CAT IV-rated. Other key features include vibration feedback and multi-coloured LED alarms - useful for inspections conducted in noisy areas. High/low sensitivity modes for testing industrial equipment low voltage systems and tamper-proof outlets are also standard.
MANOEUVRABLE VIDEOSCOPE Completing the initial range is the FLIR VS70, a videoscope designed for use in the industrial environment. It features handset controls that enable the user to guide the probe into tight areas to deliver clear video images to a large 5.7" colour LCD display. The FLIR VS70 provides 180◦and 90◦
camera views and SD card storage of video, image and audio files. Voice

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL CLAMP METER Combining the capabilities of a true RMS (square root of mean square) multimeter and clamp meter with a non-contact IR thermometer and Type K thermocouple, is the new FLIR CM78. It captures AC/DC readings up to 1,000A or 1,000V and allows quick hot-spot temperature scans and checks on panels, conduits and motors. The thermocouple takes location specific temperature readings to verify that associated current and temperature specifications are correct. It’s well suited for use on all industrial equipment and complex machinery.
comments can also be captured via the product’s headset. Battery life is six to eight hours and a USB port is included for easy recharging. “The communication technology on these new instruments allows our customers to use their android device as the condition monitoring hub,” explained FLIR’s John Reynolds. “All our instruments transfer measurement data via Bluetooth to a device running the latest FLIR Tools Mobile app.” He continued, “They also have the
ability to connect wirelessly to Meterlink enabled FLIR thermal imaging cameras in our FLIR E- and T-Series so that readings, such as electrical loads and moisture levels, can be embedded into IR images in real time.” The FLIR Tools Mobile app allows data to be shared with others on-site to speed up troubleshooting. Measurements can be e-mailed to managers to accelerate decision making and incorporated into professional looking reports to consolidate all the findings. Reynolds concluded, “These products
are just a taster, there are many more in the pipeline. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive range whose quality is FLIR assured.”
