TEST & MEASUREMENT SUPPLEMENT FEATURE READY FOR THE OFF
This year sees the launch of the inaugural Engineering Testing Show (28th October at the Derby Roundhouse). This niche sector event will see the who’s who of the testing world gather to review the latest innovations, discuss new ideas and network with like-minded professionals. Here, Electrical Engineering magazine takes a closer look

he Engineering Testing Show is the first event of its kind and has been created and produced by engineering events company, GSE Media. The company ran the Graduate Engineer Show last October, where 1,800 engineering students from over 60 universities took the opportunity to meet human resource specialists from over 70 leading engineering firms. Those who attended praised the event

The Engineering Testing Show will run
on Tuesday 28th October at Derby’s iconic rail roundhouse - this building alone is one of the show’s biggest selling points. Dating back to 1839, it’s been restored for use by Derby College but also has an extremely attractive and usable events space. Work has been done to sympathetically retain many historical features, so it still appeals to anyone with an appreciation of engineering through history and is now considered one of Derby’s landmark buildings.

engineering technology and we have worked hard to develop an exhibitor and speaker line-up which includes some of the most forward thinking companies in this sector,” continued Davies. “Equally, we are expecting the event to attract visitors from across many of the UK’s prominent engineering supply chains. This will range from small consultancies through to engineering OEMs which have a significant involvement in the engineering testing field.” Running in conjunction with this Show
will be The Rail Engineering Technology Show. The rail sector has been identified as a high growth industry within the UK and The Rail Engineering Technology Show will provide a fantastic opportunity for those organisations looking to grow their business within this industry and a platform to showcase their products and services. The launch of both shows is part of GSE Media’s wider focus on the engineering industry. Since it launched the online portal
www.globalstressengineers.com in 2011, the site now has a global reach of almost 30,00 engineering professionals with Derby as its base. “Derby is a city of engineering
has no one done this before?” GSE Media is gearing up to run the 2014 Show on October 29th at Derby’s iconic rail roundhouse, but on the preceding day, it will play host to its brand new Engineering Testing Show. “The idea for the Testing Show was sparked by an event we ran back in March - The Engineering Simulation Show,” explained Ken Davies, director of GSE Media. “Exhibitors were telling us there was an opportunity for promoting other niche markets in engineering, where professionals with an interest in a specific field could come together, explore innovations and share ideas.”
WHAT’S ON SHOW? The show will provide an opportunity for organisations involved in the development of and practical application of testing solutions, and training provision within the industry to showcase their products and services to visitors. Exhibiting companies will feature innovations in non-destructive testing, condition monitoring, diagnostics, metrology, instrumentation, metallurgy and test rigs. The main event will be supported by a full programme of speaker presentations given by industry leaders in which new technologies will be introduced, best practice application

excellence. Rolls-Royce, Bombardier and Toyota, to name but a few, are major employers here and with its location right at the centre of the UK, Derby train station just metres from the Roundhouse, and the connections we have made over the years in the engineering industry, we’re excited to see how we can develop new opportunities for engineering professionals,” added Davies. Around 1,000 visitors are expected to attend The Engineering Testing Show and The Rail Engineering Technology Show. Entry for visitors is free, however, advance booking is recommended.
