PRODUCTS EDITOR’S CHOICE IMPROVING MANUFACTURING PERFORMANCE
A new HMI software product has been launched by Schneider Electric as part of its Wonderware InTouch portfolio. Designed to run with modest hardware requirements and operable on embedded versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems, InTouch Machine Edition software is tailored to meet the needs of end users, OEMs and machine and system builders while giving them scalability and tight integration with Wonderware Historian and Wonderware System Platform. Because it can directly connect to industrial data sources, the new software enables users to access the information they need to improve plant operations and lower total cost of ownership in real time. Features of the InTouch Machine Edition software
make it easier for customers to integrate their information and automation systems. For example, it can directly replace a traditional panel computer HMI while providing the functionality normally found in larger PC-based HMI systems; it offers more than 240

native communication drivers with connectivity to almost any control hardware; and its visualisation, scripting, security, alarming, trending and recipe management functionality empowers plant operators to make better business decisions using real time data. Additionally, customers in regulated industries will benefit from features that are powerful enough to be used as part of a 21 CFR part-11 compliant solution. Wonderware InTouch Machine Edition strengthens and broadens Schneider Electric’s software solutions portfolio for a broad range of end users and OEM customers in the embedded HMI segment. The solution provides integration with Wonderware Historian software so that data can be securely and reliably saved, retrieved, analysed and interpreted for greater insight into the business. This includes store-and-forward capabilities that will save the information locally if the connection to the historian is interrupted and then subsequently forward that data to the historian when the connection is re-established. Live data can be communicated to desktop
versions of Wonderware InTouch, Wonderware System Platform and Wonderware InBatch software. Data can be used in scripts, alarms, history, recipes and graphics to enable monitoring of machine status and performance information such as OMAC PackML data and overall equipment effectiveness.

GLAND PACK EVOLUTION
When terminating a SWA cable, an ensuing struggle with two spanners or grips, while tightening the thin locknut was a regular frustration. Electricians have for years had to overcome the problems of terminating SWA cables to metal and plastic enclosures with no quick or easy solutions. However, now Specialised Wiring Accessories has launched a new cable gland pack called Taurus aimed at making the job easier. The Taurus gland range incorporates everything in one kit including the award winning EarthingNut which simplifies fitting, giving 60% quicker durable terminations compliant with BS 7671 to both plastic and metal enclosures. The introduction of Taurus means the days of hunting for nuts and bolts or crimps, extra hole drilling, pinched fingers, skinned knuckles, or getting your spanner or grips into an impossible space, are over.

Eaton’s Bussmann business has enhanced its line-up of NH square bodied photovoltaic (PV) fuse links to include new higher ratings up to 400A at 1,000V DC. Designed specifically to protect and isolate PV array combiners boxes, recombiners boxes and inverters, these compact fuse links are capable of interrupting low overcurrents associated with faulted PV systems - reverse current, multi-array faults - and meet the IEC 60269-6 (gPV) and UL standard requirements (CCC pending), allowing the selection of one fuse link that meets global acceptance. Available in NH size 1, 2 and 3 formats, the compact size and bladed mounting options
Rittal’s ‘Blue e’ cooling units are usually found controlling the temperature within enclosures in workshops or on shop floors in the industrial sector where noise level is largely irrelevant. In situations such as laboratories,
offices or other more peaceful areas, Rittal’s TopTherm ‘Blue e’ roof mounted cooling unit range provide cooling where excessive noise would be an irritant to personnel working close to an enclosure. Rittal’s ‘Blue e’ cooling units benefit
from the targeted use of energy, electronically commutated (EC) fan technology and can achieve energy savings of up to 45%. Nano-coated condenser coils negate the need for filters and an integrated electric condensate evaporator maintains an efficient supply of cooling for longer periods of time.

permit easy design and installation without increasing the footprint. Integrated dual indication comes as standard and, for remote signaling, micro-switches can be easily linked with system monitoring schemes, simplifying fault finding and reducing down-time.

The new ZITARES intelligent and ZITARES 360 software from BAG electronics is a new system that offers flexible control of LEDS. ZITARES intelligent links together hardware and software to enable the LED ECG to be individually co-ordinated to each luminaire. The core of the intelligent ECG is a micro-controller that optimises the luminaires in conjunction with
optional sensors. All parameters are configured with the new ZITARES software which integrates into the development and production process. Offering a variety of function options, ZITARES intelligent also offers safety and, with its smart interface communication, ECG data can be programmed and easily monitored. ZITARES intelligent incorporates ZITARES 360 intelligent software for free programming of micro- controllers in the control units. Overheating is practically impossible due to system
thermal protection. ZITARES intelligent allows LEDs to age without affect to the human eye, as the luminous flux is automatically compensated for by the ECG that continues to offer constant brightness and therefore longer luminaire lifespan.
