Camp Suisse is a European summer camp like no other. For almost 10 years, its team of adventure experts has been providing multi-activity holidays for youngsters (7-17 years) from all over the world. T e exclusive, private, purpose-built camp is

situated over 3,600ft above the Rhone Valley and Lake Geneva in the resort of Torgon. Less than 90 minutes by car from Geneva airport and within an hour of a number of cultural centres (including Evian, Lausanne and Montreux) it boasts a wealth of facilities that enable campers to live and learn in a serene, safe and clean environment. Catering for up to 160 guests, the Camp Suisse

campus is renowned for its invigorating summer climate. T ere’s a main Camp Suisse building and two accommodation chalets, each with modern two-to-four bedded rooms or apartments. Full board (three meals a day, plus afternoon tea) is included and the chefs off er a range of healthy international and local home-cooked cuisine. As an accredited Adventuremark provider, the

Camp Suisse team makes sure every day is action- packed. T ere’s a full-sized football pitch, tennis courts, sports hall (for hockey, basketball, football, badminton and other games), indoor climbing wall, table tennis room, TV lounge, mountain biking routes and a 160-seat restaurant within the resort. Alongside the on-site facilities, the Camp Suisse

management has developed an Alpine Adventure activity programme that’s second to none. Whether it’s climbing up crags, scrambling up the river, real mountain biking, hiking or camping at the Camp Suisse Alpine outpost, there’s never a dull moment. For inquisitive campers looking for fi rst-hand

experience of Swiss and European culture, there are various supervised excursions. Popular trips include husky dog sledding on a glaicer, the chocolate and cheese factories of Gruyères, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and the Montreux Jazz Festival. Other fun excursions include swimming and diving at the outdoor pool at Villeneuve, banana-boating on Lake Geneva and a day at Aquaparc — Europe’s largest indoor theme park.

Finally, each Camp Suisse programme includes

a minimum of nine hours of language courses in Spanish, French, German or English. T e focus is on practical conversation and confi dence building at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. All language teachers are also heavily involved in activities and excursions to maximise learning opportunities outside the classroom. T e idea behind all of this is to help the young

campers to grow as people — improving their self-belief, confi dence, responsibility and time management — with the chance to forge lifelong relationships with like-minded individuals from a range of backgrounds and cultures.

And, it’s working too. Bookings have increased

year on year, and for many campers, the summer trip to Camp Suisse is now a permanent fi xture in the diary — a chance for them to catch up with old friends, make new ones and experience the very best of the Swiss Alps. To help cope with demand, this summer will see the longest Camp Suisse season yet thanks to the introduction of two new one-week sessions in August. T ese one-week sessions are an ideal opportunity to enjoy a real taster of life in the Alps, sample the unique experience and see why people keep coming back for more. Doors open for international sessions on 28 June and the season draws to a close on 16 August.
