Interpreting his surroundings with impressionist and expressionist techniques, the artist produces compelling compositions that place the viewer within the action. he has visited kitchens, vineyards, and bakeries around the globe, including Charlie Trotter’s, Opus One, The French Laundry, and Cafe Boulud. Christopher M. takes in all he can with a series of notes, sketches, and photographs, items he will decipher back in his studio along with his memories of the experience. It is only then, with his research complete, he is ready to plan the composition and theme of the piece, and he will not begin applying paint until he is satisfied he has a clear understanding of how he will portray each of the senses as he perceived them.
