BEHIND Meet
How did you discover EC Galleries? I could say that it was serendipitous. A month before I heard that EC Gallery was about to open in Las Vegas, I curated “Inner Voice,” an art exhibition in Downtown. ECG’s Director happened to come to the exhibit and was very impressed with it. A friend had already told me about this gallery job opening up in Las Vegas. I decided to check it out only to discover that ECG was the perfect match for me. Meanwhile, the Director was happy to learn that I was the person whose work caught his eye as a possible associate in the new location!
V EXCLUSIVE COLLECTIONS GALLERIES
Describe your role as EC Las Vegas Gallery Director. I take great pride in the artists we represent and the sympathetic art consultant team I work with. I believe that our gallery not only facilitates the acquisition of great art but provides an unforgettable experience for collectors. The art consultants that work at ECG like myself enjoy sharing about the art we carry. As a Director I enjoy nourishing this culture by supporting the art consultants and making sure that collectors are enjoying every single step of the art collecting process.
What attributes do you bring to the team at ECG? My passion for art took me through different realms of the world of art such as obtaining a Fine Art degree from Bergen Community College, an Art History degree from Montclair State University, working in outreach programs for New York City museums, curating solo exhibits by artists I believe in, and now with great pleasure I am working side by side with living artists and finding loving homes for their art. Through my experience, I bring my strong conviction that art matters in people’s lives. Art connects to our deepest feelings, even instincts. It channels our perceptions and reflects who we are. It is basic to what makes us human.
What do you enjoy the most about working for ECG? I enjoy experiencing art with others. I love to be present when a work of art gets created on the easel in our gallery by one of the artists we represent. I enjoy being a supportive witness when a collector connects with a work of art in a special way.
Further on, I love learning from my collectors what moves them to acquire the art that they collect. In the long term, I love to assist them in building the art collection of their dreams.
What do you feel sets ECG apart from other galleries? I feel that what sets ECG apart from other galleries is the supportive relationship between our gallery and the artists we represent. We not only carry “hot” artists but we discover and nurture the “hot” artists of the future as well. This has been the case with Henry Asencio, Michael Flohr, Michael Summers and others. Our aim is to create a long-lasting relationship with our artists which gives them the recognition and support they need to spread their wings while giving us and our collectors ongoing access to their works. Collectors participate in this ongoing process of discovery and development as well. They get the opportunity to meet every one of our artists, to join our exclusive shows, and acquire their favorite work of art. In doing so, they are the major patrons for the future hot artists we believe in.
How does your appreciation for art affect your ability to serve clients?
I think that my passion for art is joyfully contagious and at the same time I respond to collectors’ excitement when they find a work of art they love. This reciprocal, supportive and fun environment has provided me with many wonderful friends among my collectors.
