Professional registration
Make it happen
Professional registration is an independent assessment of knowledge, understanding, commitment and competence – a benchmark alongside leaders of the profession.
Driving careers forward
The IET is an awarding body for five professional titles: Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered IT Professional (CITP), Engineering Technician (EngTech) and ICT Technician (ICTTech).
These globally recognised professional qualifications indicate a high level of competence and commitment to remaining at the forefront of developments within the profession; something that is equally valued by employers and clients.
Standing out from the crowd
When surrounded by individuals with similar qualifications, graduates need every advantage to promote themselves in an increasingly competitive working environment. Professional registration through the IET demonstrates that they have the right knowledge and experience to contribute to the business – now and in the future.
Students who have completed a year’s work placement will be able to use their experience to demonstrate they’ve met the competence for professional registration as a technician: either Engineering Technician (EngTech) or ICT Technician (ICTTech) (depending on their specialism). They will need to provide appropriate evidence from their placement year, but the IET will assist in ensuring that this meets the assessment requirements.
