The stage is set for the inaugural SHD Logistics Awards on 20th March at the Park Lane Hotel, London, where representatives from across the industry will go head-to-head to battle for one of 12 coveted trophies.

Table sales for the industry’s newest industry networking event have been going well, with just a few spots remaining as we went to press. Those still to reserve their place can do so by contacting Rob Fisher, whose details appear at the end of this article. Comedian Miles Jupp has been lined-up to host the event. Miles’ profile has been rising considerably over the past 12 months – from being ‘the English one off Balamory’, he is now ‘the go-to man for BBC panel shows’, having starred recently on BBC1’s Room 101 and BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz.

Further entertainment during the evening comes in the form of a charity prize draw on behalf of Transaid, which SHD Logistics has agreed to support for an initial three- year period to raise funds for transport solutions in developing countries. Over 20,000 visitors are expected, offering Transaid the opportunity to engage with logistics experts from across Europe. Gary Forster, CEO of Transaid, says:

will be asked to make a donation, and the names of those participating will be entered into a prize draw – to be drawn on the night – with a chance to win one of the following great prizes:

• Two tickets with hospitality to either FA Cup Semi-Final (12th or 13th April) – donated by Toyota Material Handling;
• Round of Golf for four people at the Vale Golf and Country Club, Evesham – donated by the Vale Golf and Country Club.
Once the serious bit of the evening – the presentation of the Awards – has concluded, guests are invited to network at the bar and in the foyer, where fun money at each table setting can be exchanged for chips at the casino tables. More prizes will be awarded to whoever wins chips of the highest value on the night.
