Whatwillhappennext? An appropriate professional will carry out an assessment. They will visit you, usually at home, and talk to you about the
things you are finding difficult to manage or are worried about.
After theAssessment... They will ask you to agree the needs you have identified together and will let you know whether they are able to provide
resources (care, equipment or other) to meet that need. They are usually only able to fund those needs which are causing you or your child to be at significant risk or which limits their independence significantly.
Wherewillanyequipmentcomefrom? Any equipment identified as essential will either be loaned from a Joint Equipment Store on behalf of health and
social care or you may choose to have a Direct Payment in order to purchase the equipment yourselves or get an alternative item which you prefer (it must still meet the identified need).
Whathappensifequipmentcannotbeprovidedfromstatutoryservices? Charitable Funding – they will usually require a letter of support from a professional and will not fund equipment which
