Nights at the Museum

events A

fter hours, the National Infantry Museum takes on many different personalities. It may be filled with

nervous teens attending their first prom or old soldiers swapping war stories. The Foundation’s ability to rent out spaces of all sizes in the museum is a critical piece in the operations funding puzzle.

Twenty-seven couples chose the museum as the venue for their wedding in 2012. While most of them have a connection to Fort Benning or the military, more and more brides from off-post are discovering the museum’s unique offerings.

Military formals are big at the museum, too. Officer Candidate School classes often select the museum’s Grand Hall for their formal graduation ball. Throughout the year there were 46 evening events involving groups associated with the military and 74 events booked by non-military groups.

The museum’s entertainment offerings are popular draws for special events. A local movie buff rented the IMAX Theatre several times to give his friends a unique film lover’s feast. A reunion of old Rangers fired up the Rifle Range for a friendly competition with their younger counterparts.

Businesses have discovered the museum is a perfect place to mix work and play. They book meeting rooms for off-site strategy sessions and queue up at the combat simulators for team building. They can cater their lunch from Valley Hospitality or enjoy a change of scenery just a few steps away in the Fife and Drum restaurant.

The Foundation’s team of event planners is standing by to craft a unique museum experience for any special occasion.

NIM SIMs The video game generation loves the museum’s combat simulators! Using Humvee- and Black Hawk-mounted weapons, the teams embark on a dangerous mission to rescue humanitarian aid workers.

THE ARMY DUCK The famous Aflac duck is in the Army now and available for purchase only at the museum’s new online store. Visit our website for more Army and NIM-logoed gifts and merchandise.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES The final install- ment of the popular Batman series opened in the museum’s IMAX Theatre on the same day as its world premiere. The opportunity to see it on the giant screen drew record crowds.
