In late January of this year, Cecil Cheves


and John Teeples, owner of Big Dog Run- ning Company, drove down to the Florida panhandle to attend the 30A Songwrit- ers Festival with their families. They were greeted with a sprawling concert expe- rience that encompassed the length of the picturesque 30A scenic beachfront highway, featuring intimate indoor and outdoor performances by artists such as Shawn Mullins, Tift Merritt, Fastball and Cheves’ personal festival favorite, Jeffrey Steele. Before even leaving the strip of venues,


Cheves and Teeples were talking about the possibility of bringing a similar festival home. “While driving back to Columbus I looked up Jeffrey Steele’s contact informa- tion and emailed a request that he come to our soon-to-be-announced music festival,” said Cheves. “His agent emailed back ask- ing for more information.” Steele’s interest was the catalyst that set Columbus’ newest festival in motion. Cheves and Teeples assembled an A-list
