The 2012 Soldier Marathon and Half Marathon raised $30,000 for two local organizations that serve the military: the Na- tional Infantry Foundation and the House of Heroes. Presenting checks are: Race Director Cecil Cheves to National Infantry Foundation Executive Vice President Greg Camp and Columbus Roadrunners President Carolee Luther (far right) to House of Heroes Executive Director Susan Gerkin.
Blanchard, Edwin and Pam Page, Lynn and Charlie Tompson and Rennie and Cathy Bickerstaff. Te lovely event was ably chaired by
Suzanne McCluskey who was there with husband Leland. Te money raised at the event goes for education and outreach pro- grams of the Patrick Heart Institute at St. Francis.
Nights on the Town The last week of January/first week of
February proved to be an outstanding arts week—not that unusual of a week in Uptown Columbus. Catch Me If You Can played at the RiverCenter with Bill and Cindy God- win, Eleanor and Otis Burnham and Bob and Carole Offer in the large and enthusi- astic crowd. Ten it was off to the Springer to see Steel Magnolias, where there wasn’t a dry eye in the house for the second half of the show. I could hardly keep up with the one-liners. Te actors were brilliantly cast, in some cases, type cast (and I’m not say- ing who!) but locals Dusty Wellborn, Lucy Banks Sheſtall, Kelli Franklin Peters, Helen Varner and Ethelyn Riley brought
the house down with their magnificent performances. To cap off the week, phan- tasmagorical “Momix: Botanica” completed our cultural week. What a visually stunning show—sort of Cirque du Soleil, with exotic dancing and a botanical theme—you could hear the “ooohs” and “aaaahs” throughout the performance. We were thrilled that there were so many children in the theater, and the curtain was held because the line was so long to buy tickets! Who says there’s nothing to do in Columbus? Hope you all had a memorable Valen-
tine’s Day with someone special. Te Wynn House made the evening extra-special for Debbie and Bert Bush, Nancy and Larry Stephens, Betsy and Al Ramsay, Bill and Sue Marie Turner, Susan and Floyd Mitch- ell and Joyce and Herbert Fingerhut. About 50 people including Margaret
Lewis, Ed Neal, Hooper Turner, Sherry Evans, Sonny Williams, Margie Rich- ardson and Susan Metcalf enjoyed a pre- dinner reception and a chance to mingle throughout the newly renovated mansion. Mary Dana Knight, Darlene Hughes
Kittrell, Donovan Lewis and all the staff at the Wynn House delivered a scrump- tious dinner on elegantly set tables. Fun- draisers like this dinner and the upcoming Wynn House Heritage Ball help to support the Wynn House and ensure that we will have this treasure to enjoy for many years to come. C
