THERE BE ART AND BLOOM April 19-25
LET Tis is the third year that the Colum-
bus Museum has held its Let Tere Be Art event. Tis year they’ve given it a new twist with the addition of flowers. Let There Be Art and Bloom! is a week-long celebra- tion of art and botanicals. It kicks off on April 18 with the Art Aſter Dark premier party featuring art, cocktails and gourmet cuisine by Chef Jamie Keating. Guests will have the opportunity to preview and pur- chase art and plants before the show opens. On April 19, the show opens to the
public. From that day until April 25, this free show and sale will offer works from artists from the East Coast, across the South and even Europe. Trough April 21, the botanical tent will be open, offering themed concept shops, artful containers and botanicals for sale. Master Gardeners
will be on hand to offer gardening tips and how-to presentations. Troughout the weekend, celebrities
from the world of gardening will be at the Museum. On Friday, April 19 Ron Morgan will deliver a lecture based on his book, In the Company of Flowers. This book cov- ers 60 different table settings reflecting Morgan’s inventiveness and artisic vision expressed in centerpieces. Following the lecture, he will sign his books and then teach a floral workshop. On Saturday, April 20, the author of the
four Wall Street Journal best-selling gar- den books, James Farmer will lecture from his new book, A Time to Cook. In addition to writing, Farmer is the owner of a land- scape design company, and he is a con- sultant for historic garden restoration. He
brings a unique blend of passion to deco- rating, entertaining, gardening and cook- ing to create the perfect event. Following his lecture, Farmer will sign his books and then teach a workshop called “Garden to Table.” On Sunday it will be a family affair that
they are calling a Southern Picnic with bluegrass music, arts and craſts, a magic show and a scavenger hunt for the children. Troughout the week there will be other
book signings, cooking, floral design and gardening demonstrations, live painting presentations and a raffle. While many of the events are free, prices vary for some of them. A complete schedule of events with ticket prices is available by visiting
