The courses offer a mix of theoretical and practical operational assignments which, despite their newly certified status, Fulton claims still bridges the gap between the more expensive courses – those that can cost many thousands of pounds per employee – and straightforward ‘toolbox’ training. Commenting for Fulton, customer services manager Jeff Byrne says: "The addition of City & Guilds certification to our training adds value to the courses and supports both the Safe Management of Industrial Steam and Hot water boilers Guidelines BG01 (SAFed) and INDG-436 (HSE) with regard to operation and training.” Fulton Operator Routines & Maintenance course, which is designed for boiler operators, covers basic day-to-day operation and monitoring and provides employees with the knowledge required to monitor a boiler and ensure it is running efficiently and safely. he Knorr sachet packaging plant in Heilbronn, Germany packages millions of products annually and makes ongoing improvements to its production machinery in order to meet the latest technical and food hygiene requirements. The latest step was the installation of an

intelligent machine vision system from Cognex to deliver checks of 100% of the seals on sachets produced. The vision system consisted of an In-Sight® Micro vision system, In-Sight Explorer vision software with PatMax® pattern recognition technology and a Cognex VisionView 700 visualization panel, installed by
aku.automation GmbH of Aalen, Germany. The In-Sight vision system was able to assess the quality of the sealed seams at breakneck speeds. In the camera's black-and-white mode, the fine relief of the welded seams shows well with contrast between light and dark. Any material overlap or defective welds are detected immediately and the product is discharged. Another important quality parameter is the angle the welded seam makes with the outer edge of the bag.
