embers looking to lower their home energy costs can now go to Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s website for some fast - and fun - help. With just a few mouse clicks, Tri-County Electric’s new Billing Insights home energy calculator will analyze the home’s current energy use and allow the homeowner to simulate various energy saving measures to see the corresponding dollar savings. “We want to provide our members with one more element of

portal and robust website, greatly expands what our members can accomplish at their convenience, after business hours,” Perkins said. “These tools also offer cost savings to the cooperative through reduced member calls and on-site visits, and that saves money for everyone.” Members can access the new tool by accessing their account online from www.tri-countyelectric.coop. it shows members what they really want to know: how much money they can save if they implement certain conservation measures.” T ri- Cou nty

Electric selected the Billing Insights tool to supplement its member education efforts because of its ease of use and how well it approximates savings for homes in the cooperative’s service area. “As long as the

member has at least ten month’s history with the cooperative and enters their account number to access the tool, the

calculator automatically factors in local weather and current electricity prices,” Perkins said. “Members can change settings like the thermostat setting in the tool to see how much they would save if they actually made the change.” Web-based tools like the new energy calculator are becoming more integral to cost-effective member service as consumers increasingly rely on the Internet to help manage their busy households.

Members without access to the Internet can call 800-522-3315 during regular business hours to speak with a member service representative. A representative will walk callers through the questions on the tool then print and mail a

report with

cost saving ideas as well as a graphical analysis of the billing history.
