Fender NAMM launches Host of new guitars launched including new signature and Custom Shop models

FENDER HAS launched a whole batch of new lines at NAMM including its long- awaited Johnny Marr signature Jaguar, new Blacktop models, new Squier and new Custom Shop. The Johnny Marr signature Jaguar is a non- standard version of the model which has been developed by Marr and his guitar techs on the road with Modest Mouse and The Cribs over a four year period and has resulted in a guitar with a number of personalised modifications.


These include:  Custom-wound Bare Knuckle Johnny Marr single-


coil neck and bridge pickups.  Custom-shaped maple neck based on Marr’s 1965


Jaguar.  Four-position blade-style


pickup switch.  Two upper-horn slide switches (universal bright and pickup switch position


four bright).  Jaguar bridge with


Mustang saddles,  Tremolo with arm-sleeve insert to prevent swing. Both versions of the guitar,


available in Olympic White and Metallic KO, will retail at £1,942.80. Meanwhile, the three new additions to its Blacktop series are - a Blacktop Telecaster Baritone, Stratocaster HSH and Jaguar 90. The Blacktop Stratocaster HSH has the addition of a single-coil Telecaster middle pickup amid the neck and bridge humbucking pickups and the Blacktop Jaguar 90 is a Blacktop Jaguar HH fitted with two single-coil pickups. New custom editions


include the 1951 New Old Stock (NOS) Nocaster (£2,650.80) and 1951 Relic Nocaster (£2,986.80) both feature an ash body with a Nocaster Blonde finish and include all-new Twisted Tele pickups designed by Fender. Available in Faded Two- Colour Sunburst, Desert Sand, and Black, the 1956 Heavy Relic Stratocaster (£3,118.80) features an ash body, one-piece maple neck with large V shape, maple fingerboard and custom shop Fat ‘50s Strat pickups. The 1960 Relic


Stratocaster (£2,614.80) has 1960 Stratocaster pickups


with five-way switching. The 1961 Relic Telecaster


Custom (£3,082.80) features all-new Twisted Tele pickups with three-way switching. The 2012 Closet Classic


Stratocaster (£2.866.80) has Abby Red Hot pickups hand-wound by Abigail Ybarra, five-way pickup switching and vintage-style hardware.


The 2012 Custom Deluxe


Stratocaster (£2,422.80) and 2012 Custom Deluxe Telecaster (£2,674.80) both offer an ash body with access heel and AAA quilted maple veneer top, satin-finished AA flame maple neck. Lastly, the 1961 Closet Classic Jazz Bass (£2,614.80) is equipped with vintage- style Jazz Bass pickups, stacked concentric control knobs, tortoiseshell pickguard and vintage hardware. It is available in Black and Arctic White. There are five new


Vintage Squier models such as the ‘70s Stratocaster available in all-Black maple- fingerboard and Vintage White rosewood- fingerboard. The Telecaster Special has a Jazzmaster neck pickup,


and a vintage-tint maple Jazzmaster neck. It will be available in White Blonde and Butterscotch Blonde. Also new to the series is


the Vintage Modified Surf Stratocaster with distinctive tube-style pickups and classically colourful Surf Green, Sonic Blue and Candy Apple Red finishes. A Stratocaster HSS with vintage-tint gloss neck, ’70s- style large headstock, humbucking bridge-pickup tone and Charcoal Frost Metallic finish as well as Black and Three-color Sunburst is also available. Lastly, there's a


Stratocaster with a classic triple-single-coil tone. Other features include a vintage- tint gloss neck, ’70s-style large headstock, and a Vintage Blonde finish option along with Black and Three- color Sunburst finishes. Meanwhile, the firm also launching signature guitars for Slipknot/Stone Sour's Jim Root (Telecaster); a Mustang Bass from My Chemical Romance’s Mikey Way and an Avril Lavigne Telecaster.
