AS A pair, Tom Sivell – vocals and guitar – and I try to separate our sounds, as well as what we play, but at the moment we’re pretty big Fender fans; I’m never without my American Deluxe Telecaster, as it suits me down to the ground on all fronts.

The maple neck and rear body contour make it really playable and the S-1 switch on the middle pickup position means I can get a more full-blooded sound, though most of the time I prefer the spike of the bridge pickup.

Tom has recently converted to an HS Blacktop Jazzmaster, so that there’s plenty of grunt from the humbucker for heavier stuff, but also good definition from the single coil for cleaner chords. It definitely helps that both are fairly lightweight too; neither is a chore to play live.

Amp wise, Tom’s Orange AD30 SEND US STUFF

THIS STUFF doesn’t come out of thin air, you know. So we need our lovely readers to get involved with this page and tell us news of events, happenings, gossip, store days, send us pics, tell us what’s going on and make portraits of well-known artists out of unusual mediums. Send anything you’ve got to Ronnie.dungan@intentmedia.co.uk. Best one wins a huge limited edition crate of nothingness.

*Nah, not really. But we will be very, very appreciative. www.mi-pro.co.uk

is the perfect warm contrast to my vintage Vox V125, which gives some glistening high-end definition and allows me to cut through against the grit of the Orange. I also pair the Vox with a Hughes & Kettner 20th Anniversary Edition Tube amp, which sounds great heavily driven and gives a good low/mid response alongside the Vox. Pedal-wise, our stuff is pretty straight forward, though we both use a mixture of Boss and EHX stuff, where I have a Stereo Memory Man, and Tom a Holy Grail and Boss Delay for when we decide to add a bit of depth to things. Other than that, I carry a Digitech Whammy and Boss tremolo for certain parts and a Boss Overdrive for lead boosts, where Tom uses the Boss Blues Driver for drive, with more attack on thicker riffs.

BT's on hold "calm down" music on their broadband complaints line DOESN'T WORK !!
