Based on 30 years’ experience of providing services to some of the most vulnerable people who actively


use drugs in Ireland, one simple truth remains: For many people dependent


upon drugs, without engagement with services there is little opportunity for positive development.


Since 1982 when Ana Liffey started out, drug policy in Ireland has slowly acknowledged this fact and there has been some development of harm reduction services across the State. Ana Liffey has remained at the forefront of the various drug policy debates over the intervening period, ensuring that engaging people where they are at remained on the political agenda.
