DIRECTOR’S REPORT


INTRODUCTION


DEVELOPMENT OF THIS PLAN


In addition to the services provided onsite, we also deliver services on an outreach basis. Work conducted in this way includes:


ASSERTIVE OUTREACH We provide street based outreach on a regular basis or in response to requests from stakeholders. There are a number of reasons people may not wish to access centre-based services; by conducting outreach we can ensure that these people are not excluded from receiving a service.


NEEDLE AND SYRINGE


PROGRAMME (NSP) We provide a street based NSP service to our service users which covers a previous gap in service delivery in the city centre.


PRISON WORK We work with the Probation Service and the Irish Prison


Service to provide a twice weekly group in Mountjoy Prison for people engaged with the prison’s detoxification programme. We also provide community based support to people leaving prison, and support to people in prison.


ARREST REFERRAL We work with An Garda Síochána to provide an early intervention service for people who identify as needing support when arrested.


REGIONAL In addition to our work in Dublin, we also provide services in the Midlands and North Eastern Regions.


In the Midlands Region we work with statutory and voluntary sector service providers to deliver low threshold, harm reduction services to families and individuals in four counties: Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Longford. A key aspect of our work in the
