Q. Can you tell us a bit about Performance Solutions (PS)? A. We work in partnership with our clients to bring performance improvement to hospitals and healthcare systems across the ME region through bespoke solutions in five areas:  Care Design aims to optimize the design of existing and future hospitals to enable better care at a lower operating cost. We work alongside our clients to design and implement a customized model that aligns the right resources, the right tasks, at the right time.  Patient Care Capacity Management (PCCM) is a comprehensive solution that enables our clients to operate

safely and sustainably at high occupancies. This is accomplished by aiding our clients to (a) better balance the supply and demand of patients; (b) Improve overall capacity to enable the organization to effectively plan for strategic growth; and (c) increase patient and staff satisfaction through shared governance, communication and technology.  Through our Strategy & Leadership offering we partner with healthcare leadership to achieve strategic, operational and financial results and equip them with the skills, knowhow and experience to deliver higher quality and safer care to their patients.  We are committed to helping hospitals address their Patient Safety challenges through

a combination of advisory and technology. We provide the tools necessary to help better pinpoint, mitigate and reduce the risks that lead to medical error while driving the necessary culture change to achieve sustainability.  Our Asset Management offerings help organisations improve the management and availability of key assets making them available when they need to be resulting in greater efficiency and cost management.

Q. What is Patient Care Capacity Management (PCCM)? A. Hospitals are struggling to match capacity to demand and operate at high occupancy in a way that it is both safe (for patients and staff) and sustainable over time. At the same time staff cannot be expected to do more with the same or less. PCCM provides a flexible and scalable

answer particularly where hospitals are highly utilized with very high occupancy levels. Inefficient operational processes give the impression of an ‘artificially full’ hospital when on closer examination much more latent capacity exists.

The solution brings physical capacity in line with demand to improve patient flow through improvement in processes, scheduling, and governance. It combines a unique blend of change management best practice with GE assistive technologies such as AgileTrac™, a software solution that optimizes, in real time, the flow of patients, staff and key assets. Prediction tools enable decision makers to test scenarios to make better informed decisions about care.
