CONSTRUCTION FIXINGS

Chemfix earns ISO 14001 accreditation

Chemfix Ltd, in addition to its 9001:2008 quality accreditation, has achieved the ISO 14001 environmental management standard across its entire operation, as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable manufacturing.

I

SO 14001 is a recognised international standard for establishing an effective Environmental Management System (EMS). The standard is designed to address the delicate balance between maintaining Chemfix’s profitability and reducing environmental impact. To comply with this standard, Chemfix undertakes to minimise its

environmental impact by demanding a range of continuous improvement programmes within the company. One recent success was to recycle 60% of its 85 tonnes of factory waste that previously went to landfill.

Newly awarded ETA approval for PESF resin Chemfix is one of the first construction chemical companies to be

awarded an ETA approval for the use of chemical anchoring according to ETAG 029 Metal Injection Anchors for use in Masonry. The approval, awarded in February, covers Chemfix Polyester Styrene Free formula (ETA – 11/0032) for use with a nylon sleeve and stud.

New auto line delivered at Chemfix To satisfy the increasing orders of the new ChubSeal system, a fully

automated ChubSeal production line is about to turn from plan to reality at the Chemfix manufacturing facility in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. The new production line was designed and built within six months

by the Chemfix engineering team and Pneumatechnique Ltd, based in Peterborough, and will speed the workflow between chub filling and the labelling and packing operation.

Wolf Group transfers production to Estonia

Wolf Group has transferred the production of expanding sealing tapes Exadan AS, acquired in 2008, from Denmark to Estonia.

A

ccording to Wolf Group CEO, Jaan Puusaag, the company still strives for more efficient manufacturing processes and synergy. At the same time, the

factors favouring the movement of the factory to Estonia are the local favourable tax system and lower fixed costs when compared to Denmark. ”We had the plan of moving the production of

self-expanding sealing tapes to Estonia right from the start, as it is much more easier to administer our work closer,” explained Puusaag. According to Puusaag, the addition of new

lines gives an opportunity to diversify risks and make a wider use of the employees. “For example in Denmark, the factory worked in one or two shifts, but here we could make it work in three shifts, if necessary. Such an integration of production provides the company with flexibility and stability.” Wolf Group factories are located in Estonia

and Russia, with sales units located in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Denmark and Kazakhstan.
