CCA’s Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. is one scholar- ship that is mea- sured by more


than money. Graduates continue to experience the scholarship’s advantages long after they have walked across the graduation podium, secured jobs, and begun to practice law. “You’re going to be applying to [the MCCA] family, and


it’s like a support group that moves you along; that’s the idea. Not only in school, but in your career, and as I realized that I understood its true value,” says Gueter Aurelien, a Microsoft Corporation fellow at University of Miami School of Law. “It is absolutely priceless to have access to people who know so much and can make such a difference in your life.” Te Lloyd M. fellowships and scholarships to aspiring attorneys with strong academic records who come from disadvantaged


backgrounds and have a passion for diversity issues. MCCA’s goal is to help produce a diverse group of young lawyers who are prepared to lead and reshape the profession. Te 2013 class comprises 15 students studying law at


some of the nation’s best schools. Gerron McKnight, a former MCCA scholar and lawyer for Frost Brown Todd LCC, graduated from Indiana University School of Law in 2008 (now Maurer School of Law) and says IU students feel proud that MCCA provides scholarships to study there because it places Mauer in the ranks of the nation’s top law schools. McKnight, who works in Cincinnati, is pleased to see diverse students study in the nation’s heartland. He has only been practicing law for two years but feels


the MCCA connections are already paying off. He attended the MCCA’s Pathways conference in November 2010 in New York City and happened to sit next to an in-house counsel for a company his colleague bills. After exchanging cards and pleasantries, they went their separate ways.
