Whether you’re considering your first venture onto the water, or looking for a way to refresh your skills, there’s no better way to start than with a little preparation. Our Essential Navigation

and Seamanship Course could be just what you need. This course does exactly what it says on the tin: it covers the

essential skills for skippers and crew to back up the skills taught on the water. It’s great preparation for the early courses in our programme such as Start Yachting, Competent Crew or the Helmsman’s Course, but can equally be used to remind you of the basics if it’s a while since you were on the water. As with all our training, flexibility is key, and it’s up to you how you

take this course. It’s available in the classroom as a two day course and can be taken through distance learning. From early 2011 there is also a brand new way to take it – online with our state of the art interactive course. In this way, it is possible to learn wherever you are and whenever you choose. With exercises, clear animations and graphics, and tutorials written by our leading experts, the course is a fun and flexible way to learn.

In line with our other courses, Essential Navigation and Seamanship

is offered through our recognised training centres, with their instructors on hand to help if you get stuck or need a little advice along the way. Take a look at our RYA Interactive websitewww.ryainteractive.

org for a taste of the course and a list of training centres currently offering this brand new online course. If classroom study or other methods of distance learning are

more up your street, a full list of centres offering the course in all the possible formats is onwww.rya.org.uk.
