of Building Construction and Materials. The ASTM E119-12 and hose stream test require that a system maintain structural integrity without passage of flame or gases hot enough to ignite cotton, and also prevents passage of water from the hose stream test. The panels were exposed to temperatures as high as 1,950°F and an applied 13-ton vertical load (26,000 pounds). ACI panels passed without issue the ASTM E 119-12 3-hour fire-rated label testing.

Rubio says, “ACI’s new alternative lightweight, one-step precast composite system offers many added values, including rapid building envelope enclosure, extended building durability, life safety and asset protection, that are not available in the construction industry today. Just look around at the types of housing and commercial buildings under construction. Our laboratory testing record speaks for itself to our goal of fabricating the most sustainable, durable, lightweight, high- strength composite precast concrete building systems in the world.”

“Our family’s passion is to promote environmentally- safe sustainable structures that protect life, assets and the earth for generations to come.”

-Edward Rubio, President of American Craftsmen

INNOVATION AT WORK

Owners and architects have begun to discover and specify American Craftsmen’s

precast

concrete composite Smart Wall systems in hospitality and housing projects.

The first project completed was the Hilton Garden Inn renovation and addition located on Interstate 40 & Miami Boulevard in Durham. For this project, the Smart Wall system was installed on all roof canopies, the seven-story fire-rated shafts, room additions, the mechanical equipment room, the pool area and the exterior façade.
