There aren’t many galleries where you can browse both antique and contemporary art in a single visit. At the Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, however, you can. Owner Cheryl Newby maintains an extensive selec- tion of works by contemporary painters and sculptors alongside a selective inventory of original antique maps and prints. The gallery represents 14 painters from across the country, including Olga Antonova, the late Ray Ellis, Paula Holtzclaw, Donald Holden, Lisa Gleim, Martha dePoo, Daniel Ambrose, Laura Edwards, the late Quita Brodhead, James Calk, William McCullough and Mike Williams. Also represented are four na- tionally known sculptors, Sandy Scott, Gwen Marcus, Catherine K. Ferrell and Amy Kann; fine ceramic artist Glenda Taylor; and portrait painter James Crowley.
The gallery is celebrating its 34th anniversary in 2017. We strive to offer our patrons a vari- ety of styles and media, and we limit our artists and offerings to those who have achieved a high level of accomplishment, which is reflected in their distinctive styles.
