Getting my arms off my body and away from my shoulders is important, because that’s where you get your power. If you try to hold your hands too tight on your body, you’ll never get that shot off.

At the moment, I’m looking at the goalie and I know where the open space is because of the way she crashes. My stick has to fi gure the rest out.


ON THE MOVE


It’s important to practice the shot while you’re moving. You’re always running when you shoot it, so it’s not a certain step. If I was taking a normal shot, my muscle memory is to step with the opposite foot. But you don’t consciously think about that when you’re doing it.

Team USA’s England tour was really fun. (The U.S. went 5-0 against teams from England, Germany, Scotland and Wales during a trip in June to Guildford, England, site of the 2017 FIL Women’s World Cup.) We were really successful really early on, bonding and getting the most out of each other every practice and in every game. Being a part of the U.S. team for a few years, this is by far the quickest that we progressed.

rance was fun. I had family over there. I had never seen Normandy and the North, and we got to see a lot of the D-Day history. I got to go to a lot of the beaches and museums. It was really inspiring to go to, especially on the Fourth of July. The spirit and essence of your country was really cool. Especially after just representing it.
